The Los Angeles Daily News reported on Wednesday March 15, 2006 very good news for area students, the County Arts Commission announced Tuesday that Castaic Schools will be one of eight districts to provide comprehensive arts education.

This stems from the county board of supervisors “Arts For All” inititave approved in 2002. The 10 year program aims to restore arts education for kindergarten through 12th grade students at all 80 public schools within our region.

This is excellent news for our schools as we have not had arts programs since 1978 when propostion 13 was passed to reduce local property taxes, many state and local government programs suffered during that time and we saw many services and programs at our schools slashed.
