There’s been talk of a high school for Castaic for…years! Now amidst a literal explosion of homes and residents this once quite sleepy village is in dire need of a high school, now!

Problem is local residents of the proposed school site don’t want it, local government officials know we need it, the location with lands given by local developer SunCal, it should be all systems go however with so many entanglements sadly this project is being subjected to more local hearings. At the last planning commission meeting many parents, other residents and environmental advocates complained about what they called potential traffic problems and a lack of park space for the NorthLake site. Issues raised by the audience and the county staff prompted the Regional Planning Commission to continue a public hearing on the development until June 20. Everyone needs it, no one wants it.

The developer SunCal has proposed a plan that includes,

  • 24 acres of park space
  • community recreation center on 3.7 acres
  • paseos on 4.5acres
  • lake-view park with pedestrian access on 7.2acres
  • 8.6 acres dedicated to 14 homeowner association parks.
