Castaic Leaders Want Answers from SunCal

SunCal is apparently attempting to slide in under the radar on plans to alter their original plan for homes to be built near the Lake. Quoting the Signal “Castaic leaders are scratching their heads as the developer seeking to build thousands of homes on the edges of Castaic Lake has sought a change to the development plan that no one in the local town council knows about.”

“The 3,900-home Northlake community is set to be built by SunCal Companies. The company submitted changes to the development’s specific plan to the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning in 2004. There were two changes, and one reflected the replacement of the planned golf course with open space, said acting supervising regional planner Susan Tae.”

SunCal is seeking more flexibility in the project’s plan - is one about which neither Castaic’s town council nor the county knows.

Castaic Area Town Council had sent a letter to SunCal May 18 and has received no reply, council president Lloyd Carder said. Another letter from Carder to Fifth District Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich is demanding answers on what SunCal’s changes are to this master-planned community that would likely change unincorporated Castaic.
