“San Fernando Road” name change or not? As part of the city of Santa Clarita’s plan to revitalize downtown Newhall.
Two public hearings are scheduled for next month to find out what residents think of the proposal.
The proposal calls for extending Bouquet Canyon Road to 11th Street and also extending Newhall Avenue to Highway 14, eliminating the San Fernando Road name. Early input noted that some residents had voiced opposition to bringing a Saugus street name into Newhall.

The city will host the first meeting on Jan. 7 at 5:30 p.m. in the Century Conference Room on the first floor of City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Blvd.

The second meeting is planned for Jan. 16 at 6 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Community Center Classroom located in Newhall at 22421 Market St.
