Santa Clarita Traffic

Santa Clarita has been feeling the pain of traffic congestion, road work traffic tie-ups and long delays getting around town.
The I-5/ Magic Mountain interchange will be undergoing heavy construction over the next few months.

The following is from the city of Santa Clarita website:
The Old Road north and south of the Magic Mountain Parkway intersection was realigned to one traffic lane for each direction of travel.  Left turn pockets are available to access the businesses in this area. The lanes open are on the east portion of the existing Old Road. There is no parking or stopping in this area. The contractor, Security Paving, will be working approximately six months on the west side of The Old Road realigning it to accommodate the new roadway.

Construction of the new retaining wall along Magic Mountain Parkway eastbound towards Tourney Road from the northbound off-ramp of Interstate 5 is continuing.  Starting January 31, 2008, only one lane will be available heading east on Magic Mountain Parkway between the southbound ramps of Interstate 5 and the northbound ramps of Interstate 5 due to the sewer rehabilitation work.  This condition is expected to last until the end of February.  The two westbound lanes on Magic Mountain Parkway will remain open.  The City is coordinating with Caltrans on adjusting the signal timing along Magic Mountain Parkway.

For access to the Valencia Industrial Center, please use State Route 126 at Newhall Ranch Road as a suggested alternative off-ramp. This will help alleviate traffic congestion during the rehabilitation to the existing 30-inch sewer line.  During this phase of work, the traffic from the northbound Interstate 5 off-ramp at Magic Mountain Parkway will be detoured onto Wayne Mills then Tourney Road and back to Magic Mountain Parkway.

Please expect nighttime work for various utility relocations by ExxonMobil, The Gas Company, LA County Sanitation District, Castaic Lake Water Agency, Valencia Water, and Time Warner Cable.

Please check the City of Santa Clarita’s website at www.santa-clarita.com or the project hotline
(661) 290-2297, for any extended major lane closures, detours, or news associated with this project.
